ABOUT JANIS JEFFERIES
Professor Janis Jefferies is an artist, writer and curator. She is a Professor of Visual Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she is also Senior Research Fellow at the Constance Howard Resource and Research Centre in Textiles. She serves as Director of Goldsmiths Digital Studios, a research centre across Arts and Technology that encompasses an MFA in Computational Studios Arts and a PHD in Arts and Computational Technology.
Janis Jefferies was the third Creative Fellow of the Creative Thinking Project based at the University of Auckland. She lectured to audiences around New Zealand on the topic of “Cooperation, Collaboration and Creativity”, addressing such questions as:
- What sort of environment, values and behaviour do we need to facilitate the generation and sharing of ideas and to foster creativity?
- What exciting initiatives are happening in the UK and how and why are they working?
- Why does innovation happen at the edge and in the gaps between disciplines?
- How do we create and sustain an environment of creative collaboration and support networks to encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas, sharing of expertise and creative community?
- How does technology help and hinder cooperation, collaboration and creativity?
